Walking with my 2-yr old daughter at TTDI park is a lot of fun and discovery. Last weekend the weather was superb and we took advantage of the beautiful morning. While daddy jogged, we walked around and she discovered new things. Now she can say "monkey on a tree" because we saw so many small monkeys. We also saw tweety birds, butterflies, turtles and fishes. All that for free ... As they say, the best things in life are free!
I urge you to try out an early morning walk or late afternoon. The fresh air alone leaves you with that wonderful feeling. Of course, don't forget to put on some mosquito repellant and bring a cap/hat.
See you there!

KL Expat Mom Goes Back to Work
Tweet
Thanks to hubby, I enjoyed months of bliss. I quit my job last year 2011 and transformed into a housewife. It was all new to me, the "nothingness" and the empty calendar schedule on my mobile phone. I was used to back-to-back meetings and hundreds of emails per day. Suddenly, silence.
During those months of slow emails & empty schedules, I was full of happiness beyond words. Seeing my daughter develop every day is priceless. She is 2 years old now. I noticed the big difference and improvement in our relationship the day I quit my job.
Let me share a secret. In all those months, I did miss going out socializing and having busy schedules. I was lucky enough to know people from a training company. I was doing some freelance work for them helping out in delivering training to the companies they have engaged with. It was interesting and I met so many new people! Plus, picked up some new skills which are totally different from my past life in corporate.
The freelance work allowed me to have intelligent and adult conversations, which allowed me to stay in touch with the working world. That also builds confidence and keeps me on my toes. I also took up French lessons at Alliance Francaise.
After many, many happy months... it was time. Time to go back to the working world, but with a difference. I didn't go back to my hectic corporate life. There was an offer for a job which is totally different from my experience -- broadcast media (radio). It is just a 6-month contract and it seemed exciting. Like I always say, life is short, do something new every day! 2 weeks into the job, I have mixed feelings. Happy because once again I am learning new skills (like editing sound files, uploading podcasts). Yet I miss those lazy afternoons napping, enjoying the outdoors with my daughter.
Let's see where this goes. All I know is that one should keep moving. Keep innovating. Keep changing. That is the best way to live your life. No regrets.
Oh, and of course, this is all thanks to Talent Corp who granted me that Resident Pass. Now I can work anywhere!
