For steak lovers who do not want to be ripped off with high prices in town, I suggest this simple steak place which is no-nonsense ... simply, they want to serve a good piece of meet in a friendly environment. I am glad there is such a place here in Mont Kiara, where we can do a 15-minute walk from our condo to the steak place called Las Vacas. The walk is good especially after a satisfying meal!
They have evolved over the years. I have eyed and eaten at this place over a span of maybe 3 years, and saw it grow. They added nice outdoor tables and an automatic overhead cover which is easily adjusted to the weather. On cool nights they open the umbrella-like covering and on drizzling days they can easily put a roof over your head. Most customers prefer sitting outside to enjoy the food and some people (and car) watching. My only bad experience was too many smokers sitting outside (which ruined the experience), however I guess the restaurant could not control that. Their menu also looked much better than before (it used to be just a print out with some lamination). Good to see business is evolving.
The steak and burgers are always a good bet. Pricing is not cheap but also not on the high side. I would say that for people craving seriously good and consistent steaks, this is the place to go. I liked the garlic bread siding that comes with the steak, as I never thought it would compliment the steak so well. Last Valentines, we walked over to Las Vacas and had the rib eye steak, garlic mash potatoes and the mozarella tomato salad. I also tried their panacotta dessert (which is just okay to me). Hubby had the tenderloin and rocket salad.
I heard they have roast beef on Sundays. I haven't tried that yet and probably will do it one of these days. I'm sure it won't disappoint.
Sometimes we also buy some good raw steak and beef shabu shabu meat from their store, to cook at home. Prices are reasonable, slightly higher than what I would pay for at Village Grocer (in my experience).
Definitely a must try for serious beef lovers, especially if you reside in the Mont Kiara area!
