Pressroom at Bangsar BSC

Father's day arrived and I had to cancel my initial surprise plan for daddy. I booked La Vie En Rose initially to have a Sunday brunch there, since I heard good reviews about the place.

Daddy decided to go off for a morning hike-walk with some guy friends, so I cancelled my reservation. Was wondering if we should still proceed there for lunch... but something held me back.

One of the things that discouraged me was that I saw in another blog how the French owner told one of the customers when she asked if dogs are welcome -- he replied yes dogs are welcome however children are not. It proved to be somewhat true because when they confirmed my reservations they informed me they don't provide baby chairs / high chairs and it is best if I bring my own. I guess I should save La Vie En Rose for another day, sans little one.

We decided to go back to one of the familiar places like Pressroom at BSC Bangsar Shopping Centre. We met up with another family, a couple who has a cute little daughter, and had our lunch together. We didn't make reservations and arrived at the restaurant at 1:15pm. We were able to get seats and the friendly Filipino waiters set up the place for us.

We have frequented Pressroom in the past years but we have never made it to their Sunday roast. This time we tried it out, and we were not disappointed.

Highlights of the visit:
  • Hubby's Cinnamon Latte was different. Looked impressive and tasted nice. It is a bit on the sweet side so those who prefer black coffee may not appreciate the sweet tone.
  • The roasted lamb was tastier than the roast beef. We ordered both, medium-well, and the beef turned out a bit dry. The lamb needed a bit of coaxing with some additional salt, though I was quite satisfied with it, especially as it came with mint jelly. I used some of hubby's mustard sauce also. The Sunday roast orders came with a generous amount of vegetables and Yorkshire pudding.
  • For pregnant women, this is one of the places that serves decaf coffee. So I had my chance to have a decaf latte.
  • The Sunday Roast came with options - you can either have it with or without dessert. Hubby had his while I did a pass on dessert.
  • Attentive service from waiters. There is a mix of Filipino and Malaysian staff serving customers.
  • Our friends ordered the chicken liver pate. They said it was good, and what's even more good is that it was a generous portion.

Overall conclusion: for those looking for a generous portion of meat and vegetables on a lazy Sunday, you can visit Pressroom. You can sit throughout the whole meal up to dessert and coffee without having to move to other places. One of our favorites in BSC.

My rating: 9/10

  1. This place is rubbish. Think twice before eating in this outlet in bangsar. The crews behave like gangsters especially the manager Krishna. If I was the owner I will sack the whole crew including the chef. Food is terrible terrible
