Many people would like to shed a few pounds, yet we (myself included) find it hard to do so, especially when we get older. Despite all the added exercise I did, it was still hard to move the scale downwards. It's hard if you do 2 things:
1. Go on a diet.
You tell yourself I cannot eat this or that. In fact, when we condition our mind to "not eat" something, all the more we will want to to eat it. Simply because the idea will cross our brain. Let me show you an example.... Right now, I am telling you "DO NOT THINK OF A PURPLE ELEPHANT". The first thing you will do is imagine a purple elephant, right? Then your brain starts to process that "oops, I should not be thinking of it." Same goes for the diet.
2. If you exercise a lot, but you do not change your eating lifestyle.
You can work out all you want, but if you are piling back the calories through what you eat, chances are you will get frustrated in the long run.
By being mindful of what you eat, you can easily lose weight and gain so many other benefits. For me, what has worked since last year (2013) is the juicing approach.
Juicing vegetables and fruits has helped me lose the post-pregnancy weight so easily. I am talking about my 2nd baby delivery. It took me just a month to shed off most of the post-baby weight, as compared to the past. The big difference was: I was juicing a lot, and I also took less meat during my "confinement" period (for westerners who may not know what that is, it is literally the 1 month recovering period right after giving birth).
Green juices -- which are made up mostly of raw vegetables with a bit of fruit added, is the most potent and nutrient-dense juice you can have. I started drinking that first thing in the morning. I changed my morning ritual -- which used to be drinking water and coffee, to drinking green juice. By changing just my morning breakfast, I have changed 1/3 (one third) of my life's diet. Just that alone made an impact -- my skin got better and I lost weight faster.
Even Hollywood folks are into drinking green juices. You will see more and more of them holding on to their green concoctions, when in the past the "in" thing was a cuppa skinny latte. They too have uncovered the great benefits of this magic green juice. They can spend as much money as they want on expensive face creams and facials, but what matters is in the INSIDE -- and that is why there are also into the GREEN JUICE FRENZY that has taken the world by storm.
There are many other benefits that green juices can bring to the table. The effect of it also differs from every person. Do note also that the ratio of veggies to fruits is an important matter. You need to ensure that the veggies outweigh the fruits, so that you do not pile up on fructose. Ideally the ratio should be about 70% of vegetables to 30% of fruits.
If you haven't tried green juices before -- do not be afraid of it. It tastes great! Give it a chance. Depending on who made the juices and what goes in it -- these babies could be super yummy-tasting! Even my daughter would drink up her greens!
