La Juiceria on The Edge Malaysia March 2014

Was so happy to see the article on The Edge Malaysia this morning! They featured La Juiceria, and the story behind launching the juice company.

Will scan it soon and will check if they have it online. Meanwhile, wanted to share it here in my blog site.

Breakfast at Publika on weekends

Saturday mornings are meant for family time so we went to Publika to have brekkie with little one. Nice options at the bottom of Publika, where the bakery opens at 8am and we could bring the bread over to the coffee area for some hot drinks. They had a little babycino for little Alex hence we were happy!

Not a bad morning especially if moms like me need to do some grocery shopping afterwards.

We are definitely happy there is such a thing nearby our place.

Seats available for tea and coffee... Still empty early in the morning. Afternoons are usually packed.

La Juiceria's Passion: Cold-Pressed Juices and Hurom Slow Juicer

Very happy with the developments of my raw juice company here in Kuala Lumpur. I am so happy that more and more people are conscious and aware about Fresh Cold-Pressed Juices and how detoxifying the body can do a lot of good. Probably if this was 5 years ago, there is a lot of educating to be done about detoxification itself. However, now it seems like a common thing, common knowledge.

I myself couldn't recognize "ME" if I met myself probably 5 years ago. I wouldn't be almost-vegetarian and wouldn't have swapped my coffee mornings for raw juices. My life changed for the better since we have been juicing... and I wanted to spread that to the other people in Malaysia.

It's always good to do prevention than to find out when it's too late already. People around us are getting sick -- with skin problems that have no solution, weight gain that is unexplainable and hard to shed off, gastric problems that are bothering our daily lives, and many more. The more people I talk to, the more I realize that the symptoms stem from our DIET itself. We have been abusing our bodies with processed food and a lot of sugar. Imagine if you gave your body that much needed break: fill it with nutrients instead of zero-nutrients, empty-handed processed foods. Plus without having to digest insoluble fiber, the body gets the much-needed vacation that it never had.

Again, I reiterate that La Juiceria is all about spreading the love and passion for juicing. That's why it's not just selling juices. For the men and women out there who prefer to make their own healthy concoctions, I would recommend the Hurom Slow Juicer -- which produces the most potent and nutrient-rich juices that you can ever make. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

I hope to spread the word and get everyone healthier! Do join me on this journey to juicing. I give out free tips and recipes as well on my Facebook site.

Website to order the cold-pressed juices and Hurom Slow Juicer: http://lajuiceria.com.my

We accept credit card payments (use PAYPAL option). Soon we will accept credit card payments also through MOLPAY, which is a local payment gateway. That will be available before MAY 1, 2014. Of course, we also accept all the major debit cards and local bank transfers / Giro / Maybank2U, etc.

Shakahari at SS2: A Must-Try Vegetarian Restaurant!

Today June 7, 2014 we went back for a lunch meal and the food wasn't how I remembered it. The mushroom dish was over-fried. Totally different experience from my last visit. Perhaps they should look into maintaining quality. Won't be coming back anymore. Below was my first experience.

--------

We rarely go to SS2, and thanks to a friend of mine, he gave me a tip off on a new vegetarian place located in the busy food place of SS2 neighborhood. At first it sounded like "Shakira". Lucky it was located near a Nasi Kandar place, so we easily found it.

It was easy to park on a Saturday afternoon. We went there on lunch time, and it was half-filled about 12 noon. Soon after we sat and ordered, the crowd started coming in. I guess we were early!

I brought my baby with me and despite it was tight inside, it still had enough room for my baby pram and the place looked decent and clean. Not all the staff spoke English, though we didn't have a problem ordering as their menu was very straightforward (and informative).

We honestly enjoyed our meal, hence the immediate blog post despite my busy schedule. The place was alive with people, and before the crowd came in, I did enjoy the music that they played. So plus points for that.

My daughter loved her "char siew" order, which of course wasn't really pork. It tasted authentic so for sure I will order that again next time.

They also sold some kway or kueh (local sweets). I loved their peanut ball! That was my dessert, plus a cup of their organic coffee, which they advertise as ethically sourced. It tasted okay. Perhaps next time I will just try the black coffee (this round we tried the cappuccino).

Short and sweet summary:

Will we go back? YES for sure. Even though SS2 is not our neighborhood
Food? Great! Love it. Even non-vegetarians will surely enjoy
Ambience : 8/10 Clean, music, and good service. A bit tight if you have baby pram
Price: very reasonable!!!

More Pics of Mont Kiara Re-Routing

As of today, it's been more than a week since the road re-routing. It seems to be working as the traffic congestion has lightened up. Or perhaps I may be wrong, simply because I haven't been driving during the ultra rush hours. Meanwhile, here are some pics...

You enter from the right far side of the main road... This used to be just for those bound towards Penchala Link
There are ample signs to point you to Mont Kiara
Stay on the left most side of the road

You need to pass by the stoplight at the bottom of the fly-over (which has access to Hartamas). We used to just take the flyover towards Mont Kiara.

Detoxifying the Natural Way

I am very happy with how things are going at La Juiceria. I feel so blessed with all the customers who have purchased from us and with how things are going. And mostly, being able to help people become better and healthier.

Recently, a certain Datin hosted a small gathering of friends to listen to my short talk about how to become healthier with Hurom Slow Juicers. It was great exchanging information and stories with them. Some of the aunties there were very knowledgable about food, nutrition, and other toxins that surround our modern world today. Of course, I was very happy that a majority of them recognized the difference of the Hurom Slow Juicer -- and most of them purchased one after our gathering.

The development on our juice cleanses have also been positive. We have more and more customers everyday. I am happy that more Malaysians are aware of what detoxing is all about and why we need it. I am guessing that my company came at the right time, when detoxifying is becoming a normal thing. Compared to years ago when less people knew about it, it would have taken more explanation. Nowadays, customers don't ask why they need to detoxify. There are more curious of how the process is with our juices and curious about the wonderful effects it can bring.

Recently, another Chinese girl confirmed that she lost weight after doing the 4-days cleanse. People who stick to the program and who are determined to do a cleanse will surely see the positive effects to it. Imagine, years of eating (junk food, processed food and not-so-nutritious food) coupled with the piling effects of toxic stuff (stress, chemicals, hair color, shampoo, etc) all sank into our system. We can release these toxins by doing a cleanse every now and then. How do these toxins get out? Through sweating it out (hence, do light exercises when doing a cleanse), and of course doing the juice cleanse will mean you will go to the toilet more (pee and yes, possibly the #2).

We are happy that we are helping people with their health. And can't wait until we move into our new office! Will share more then. In the meantime, we have been getting positive feedback from customers... if you would like to have a preview, read on.

Some of the feedback of our customers can be found on our Facebook site.

Tasty Bread at Cafe Berlin, One Mont Kiara

I'm a breakfast person. Hence I am always in the hunt for nice morning places. I am glad there's such a bakery nearby -- a German bakery at One Mont Kiara called Cafe Berlin.

Their bread and cakes are not cheap. However, what you are assured of is quality. They have nice Filipino staff as well. One of the things that impressed me was that they open very early. The staff told me they are open at 7am! I haven't been there at that early morning, but I would have loved it if I knew that fact back then when I was pregnant and was always awake super early!

Love their croissant and mostly their breads (that go with butter and honey). Their Morgen Muffel breakfast set is my usual order (eggs cooked your style plus some mini bread with butter and honey). Their coffee : okay. Nothing fantastic but decent. They use Illy coffee.

For sure residents around Mont Kiara are happy with such a quality bakery around. I know I am!

Very considerate of them: they have charging stations at their seats!!! Great for people who want to work outside their office and homes!
Another added touch: they have color pencils and paper for the little ones :)
Hubby loved their bread. Must try!

Quartet: A new coffee hangout at TTDI

Early Saturday morning, after our green juices at home, hubby and decided to go to TTDI market to buy some food as we will be having guests for lunch the next day. We were happy to see that there's a new place in TTDI so we checked it out.

We usually wouldn't drive all the way to TTDI for breakfast... my usual suspects would be just in Mont Kiara area or Bangsar.

It was a pleasant surprise to see the entrance of the place. I must say it was well done, very welcoming. Plus the fact that we arrived very early (around 8:30am), the weather and sunlight added to the niceness of it. We ordered our food and drinks at the counter. Was pleasantly surprised to find I was being served by someone I met (during my BFM stint).  He mentioned that the place is called QUARTET because the owner is a former band member. Good to know!

The ambience really speaks about music and the love for it. The design is simple yet comfy and welcoming.

The coffee: it was okay. Nothing to shout about.
The food: again, at most it was average.

Would we go back? Perhaps. Mostly if it's because we need to hang out in TTDI area.

Cool place. Average food and coffee. Easy to park on weekend mornings. Love the ambience and how they designed the menu. Plus they offer free used coffee grounds (if you love gardening and want some free fertilizer!).
